Mathias Kessler (MFA AP13) will speak on the panel “Are we sawing off the branch we’re sitting on?” at the Austrian Cultural Forum this Monday, February 25.

Participants from the MFA Art Practice Class of 2013 engage in a mid-semester critique, some in person, and some joining via Skype.

I became an artist because I think art has so much potential to make things better. I know that is a vague concept, but I believe it fully. Peter Sellars told my class last summer, “Art creates spaces and conversations that do not exist.” Art has the potential to produce alternatives to reality, to help people, and to “make this place a better place.

“
